My Creative Journal Update!

It’s been a long time since I shared with you the contents of my Creative Journal – more than an year! – and it’s one of the posts I’m more proud of.

CHECK OUT: MY CREATIVE JOURNAL FLIP-THROUGH

I don’t use fancy things to express my creativity, of course I’d love to have those fancy watercolors and brushes – One day I will, I’m sure – but I think that you can express yourself and pursue your passions with what you have.
After all the most important thing is that you do it with love.

I bought my watercolors a long time ago, they’re cheap and pretty much destroyed but they have a quite wide range of colors and they’re very easy to use.

Other than that I sue my pen brush, my Art Pen fountain pen and  Bic pen.

So let’s get into it: here are the new pages of my creative journal, they’re not many since I use other notebooks to paint and draw – let me know in the comments if you want to see them too!

PAGE 1 – 2

I’ve decided that my next tattoo is going to be a lion, with the word “leão” to symbolize my Brazilian parentage and my love for that country.  I played a bit with that idea and of course I had to add some watercolors, I’m basically obsessed with them.

Sometimes I think that I create my best works when I feel very strong emotions, after all art is created thanks to them. When I designed my “Rise and shine” page I’m quite sure I just finished watching Supernatural – It’s a line that Dean tells Sam a lot if I recall correctly – and I was feeling upset and discouraged.
In time like this I think that yes, receiving support and love from the people around us is great and important, but the answer is within ourselves.
We are the maters of our own future, we are strong and awesome. We must never forget that.
Bad moments always happen, but it’s important to believe in ourselves and believe that everything will be ok.

PAGE 3 TO 7

Graduation is only one exam away and I’m totally panicking! This page shows you – even if you can’t understand Italian – all the exams I’ve had in these 3 years of University and even if this isn’t creative or artsy I use my journal for planning and it helps me stay focused and concentrated on my goals.

Quotes, lyrics and little bits of books I read are a constant in my creative journal.

What’s your favorite quote or line of a lyric?

The seventh page it’s by far my favorite.

Feelings are much like waves. We can’t stop them from coming but we can choose which one to surf.

I don’t really remember when I did this drawing but I do remember that I sketched a photography of me with my hair moved by the wind.
I then chose to add the things I love like cupcakes, wine and tv series. *perfect combo alert*

I really like this one because it’s me. I’m all of those little things and much more.

Prioritize and setting your goals can improve your productivity and concentration.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS YEAR?

PAGE 13 TO 15

I’ve seen so many botanical doodles so I decided to experiment with them a little bit and I’m very happy with how it turned out, especially page 13!

Empowered woman. Empower other women.

Confidence is always been a problem of mine so I did this pages to inspire myself and as a reminder that I’m strong and perfect just as I am.

  1. This is such a fabulous idea to keep track of different thoughts and emotions. I’m an art student myself and I strongly relate when you say that your best art works are produced when feeling strong emotions – I’m exactly the same! x

  2. Your journal looks quite amazing! I wish I could be so creative. My friend gifted me a journal quite a few years ago but it is still blank. I always felt too lazy to write something on it!

  7. What a beautiful journal, I can’t draw but I always found it fun to doodle nevertheless. I like the sound of the quote ‘feelings are like waves, you just have to choose one to surf!’ x

  9. As a person with absolutely no artistic talent whatsoever, I really do appreciate art in most forms. It must be great to have some talent that way and to be able to express yourself and share this. Well done – and I think should should also consider sharing the other pieces you referred to that exist outside of your creative journal.

  11. Will you be designing your own tattoo? Perhaps you could have it done in a watercolour style. I’ve seen some amazo g floral watercolour tattoos.

    1. I’ve already designed my first tattoo and I’d like to do the same with the next one! I think that if I get something so permanent and personal on my body I want it to be completely mine.
I love the watercolor effect on tattoos, I’m thinking about getting it in that style 🙂

  16. Another great post! Thank you for sharing 🙂 You know how much I love seeing your journals. You’re really creative and inspire me to try to do a nice journal. I’d love to see more. I also found the bit about your Brazilian parentage interesting – I went to Brazil (quite a few years ago now) and I absolutely loved it. The people were so friendly & the places I visited were just amazing. I would love to go back there. x
