Confessions in an Old English style

Saying I’ve been absent is one huge understatement, but I’m sorry (not sorry) to tell you that probably I’ll vanish into the thin air again and I’ll keep doing that.
Life goes on, priorities change and my ability to multitask has seriously gotten worse with time.
I graduated, started a new university, done exams, went to a beautiful vacation to Brazil with my mom (do not worry, a post telling you everything about it won’t delay), and procrastinated very much.
I won’t tell you I’ll be consistent from now on, but I will tell you that I’ll write about the things I like, as always, when I’ll find them and I’ll think you’ll like them too; because that’s what blogging is for me.
No rush, no expectation, no comparison to other amazing blogs and bloggers – no need for even more anxiety, am I right?

Now that the “confessions” part has been dealt with, how about the Old English style?

dav

I’ve been lucky enough to receive some goodies from Old English Co., a brand that I like very much, because they bring together stationery and great design – and some sassy sarcastic quotes.

As you can see the designs are very simple, minimal, fun and the fonts are absolutely cute!

I received a fantastic A4 print with the quote:

“Life is short, so kiss slowly, laugh insanely, love truly & forgive quickly”

This quote represents me and my ideal of life 100%, for me it is all about this: living truly and fully.
The prints are absolutely fantastic and to be honest I regret not choosing another one as well because I’m utterly in love and my bedroom will absolutely have an upgrade with this on the wall.

JUST AN FIY, THE PRINTS SCRATCH VERY EASILY SO DON’T PINCH THEM IN A CLIPBOARD IF YOU DON’T INTEND LEAVING THEM THERE – MINE GOT SCRATCHED AND NOW I’M CRYING – KIDDING, SORT OF.

Being an university student and a notebook lover, I wanted as many as possible.

I receive a wire-bound A5 notebook, another of the same measure (FIY I do am “dreaming of unicorns”) and a super pretty notepad (the little “there is beauty in simplicity” card that they ship along with orders and that I decorated by using my watercolors).

Depending on the kind of pen you use there might be ghosting because the pages are really *really* thin, I recommend a simple pen like a Bic, so you won’t have any problems (I used a gel pen for these photos and the result is really nice although with ghosting).

Now onto the things I love the most – after my beautiful print:
My pin and my new mug!

The pin I actually wanted was out of order – it said “stay weird”, so it was perfect for me – but this is a perfect substitute considering my coffee addiction.

GUESS WHAT I’M DRINKING WHILE WRITING THIS? BUT IN MY DEFENSE, BEING AN UNIVERSITY STUDENT IS EXHAUSTING, AND SO IS SIMPLY LIVING SOMETIMES

I pinned it to my bomber and it’s simply so pretty, not much more to add other than this obvious thing.

My new mug is amazing.

“Buy me pizza and tell me I’m pretty”

I mean, Old English Co. basically took my life, my moods, my thoughts and my personality and splashed it on their products.

The mug itself is very light, resistant and the perfect size for a long coffee, or a tea.

All the products on the website – which is absolutely nice, functional and pretty by the way – are very accessible, some may even say cheap.
The prints cost about £14 and the notebooks about £10, which makes me love this brand even more because way too often I found a cute planner or notepad but it is too expensive and *sorry I’m not giving all that money for that*.

Here’s how I use my Old English notebooks:

I think I’ll use one A5 notebook to write my thoughts and maybe some doodles, song lyrics and poems (kinda obsessed with writing poems since I watched the second season of 13 Reasons Why but I’m really not capable of doing it); while the other one I’ll use it just like I did in the second photos, so I’ll write and draw mind-maps and notes for my University courses.

I think that having something aesthetically pleasing, such as a book, a pen, or stationery in general; helps you with your focusing and concentrating issues – if you have any, I certainly do.
You’ll feel more motivated and develop a positive attitude towards studying; that’s also why I use different colors and techniques to take my notes, so my brain won’t get used to see always the same stuff structured in the same way, but will be more stimulated by different inputs.

IF YOU’D LIKE ME TO SHARE MY STUDYING TIPS – AKA WHAT I’VE LEARNED IN ALMOST 5 YEARS OF UNIVERSITY – TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS! AND FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS SO I’LL ANSWER THEM IN THE POST!

And since I’m currently obsessed with this brand, here’s my Old English Co. wishlist:

The New York map – because if you don’t know it’s my biggest dream to live in New York and I’m obsessed with it ; the Stay Weird pin – my first love at Old English Co.; the “Amazing in every way” card – which is just way too cute and perfect for my BFF’s birthday.

What’s your favorite Old English Co. product? Which one would you buy? Tell me in the comments and go show some love to this beautiful brand!

  1. It sounds like you’ve been so, so busy! I can’t wait to hear about your holiday in Brazil, I hope you had the best time and took loads and loads of photos to share! I absolutely love your mentality towards blogging, doing it as and when you find the time and when you have something that you really want to share, I think that a really great way of looking at it, rather than putting pressure on yourself to churn out content.

Anyway, I have seen so many positive things about the Old English Company in the blogging world lately, I’m going to have to put an order in! The “buy me pizza” mug is perfect, I definitely want one of those! Your Old English inspired doodle in your new notebook is so pretty as well, you’ve definitely got artistic talent!

  11. I used to do this back when I was doing ‘love notes’ exchance. But instead of buying them somewhere, I’d buy materials (blank indexcards, notebooks, sharpies) and ‘copy’ style in google. These are really lovely purchases and would love to get them for myself too. THank you for sharing! ❤
